Because of that, I\u2019m especially comfortable with their format and will seek them out over other puzzles!\u201d For her senior research thesis, she studied how Sudoku puzzles and their variants operate as mathematical objects. She created this hexagonal variant for a Sudoku puzzle especially for the magazine. Her advisors were Francis Su, Benediktsson-Karwa Professor of Mathematics, and Kenji Kozai \u201908, visiting assistant professor of mathematics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rules:<\/strong> Each triangle bound by bold lines must have the numbers 1-6 once and only once. Sets of parallel lines form bands, via neighboring parallel lines.
