Spotlight Recognition Award

Joshua Greene ’02 (math) is recognized for his mathematical writing and its impact and value to experts, non-experts and researchers. Greene received the 2023 Levi L. Conant Prize for his article “Heegaard Floer homology,” published in the Notices of the American Mathematical Society (68 , No. 1). The award recognizes the best expository paper published in either Notices or the Bulletin of the AMS in the preceding five years. His article is a survey of the emerging field of Heegaard Floer homology, from its historical antecedents to the wide variety of results and applications of this theory.
